Reliability Assignment

Q *Submit on Blackboard using Turnitin **Answer the questions on a blank page of this document. Keep the requirements in mind (.5 pages, double spaced, 12 point Times New Roman, 1” margins, not including title page or references). Instructions. 1. You will be completing several surveys this week to obtain several methods for calculating reliability. Q2-Q5 use the “activity 1” tab in the Reliability excel file. 2. Find your week 1 RIASEC scores from Open Psychometrics. a. Record your results under time 1 open psychometrics in the excel file 3. Retake the RIASEC survey from Open Psychometrics here: https://openpsychometrics.org/tests/RIASEC/ a. Record the results under time 2 open psychometrics in the Reliability excel file 4. Take the RIASEC survey from the University of Hawaii Community Colleges: a. https://uhcc.hawaii.edu/career_explorer/assessments/riasec_multiLang.php b. Record the results under the University of Hawaii in the Reliability excel file 5. After completing questions 2-5, you may answer the questions below. a. What is the lowest and highest values for test-retest reliability? Investigative has the lowest reliability percentage at 0.67 and Realistic has the highest reliability percentage at 0.91. b. What is the lowest and highest for parallel forms (immediate)? Social has the lowest immediate parallel form at 0.27 and Conventional has the highest immediate parallel form at 0.96. c. What is the lowest and highest for parallel forms (long-term)? Social has the lowest long-term parallel form at 0.40 and Artistic has the highest long-term parallel form at 0.81. d. Choose one of the constructs (R, I, A, S, E, or C). i. How would you interpret the overall reliability? Overall, the Conventional construct was the most reliable result for both tests. Social construct was the next most reliable. However, the Realistic construct was way off from one test to the other. ii. Is this construct reliable enough to be used for selection? Why? I would say for the most part the test was pretty spot on when it came to my type of personality and the type of career I would enjoy and be the best in. I think the test from Open Psychometrics is a bit more accurate and should be used versus the test from the University of Hawaii CC. I think it is reliable enough to be used for selection because it helps the examinee understand their skills, interests, and dreams better. This will help them explore careers that are best suited to their interests and are more likely to satisfy them. 6. Complete the conscientiousness survey on the “activity 2” tab of the excel file. a. What is your Cronbach’s alpha? 0.90 b. Interpret the Cronbach’s alpha. 7. What factors influence the reliability of a measure? Which three factors were likely the most impactful for the reliability coefficients above? Some external factors that influence the reliability of a measure are person’s age, gender, education, spirituality, and type of living. Being able to consistently get reliable measurements is dependent on the test-retest reliability and internal consistency. In my opinion, internal consistency and external factor of age (due to wisdom and knowledge) are the most impactful factors for the reliability of the coefficients above.
